Uralyt-U granules dissolve in water and are taken orally. They contain 2.4 g of potassium sodium hydrogen citrate per scoop (2.5 g of granules), in a 280 g pack. An alkaline citrate preparation used in urinary-stone treatment.
Indications
- Dissolving uric-acid stones.
- Preventing recurrence of calcium, uric-acid and mixed stones.
How to Use
- Follow the patient leaflet or the pharmacist's instructions.
- Dissolve the granules in a glass of water and measure urine pH regularly.
- For children: follow the patient leaflet and consult a pharmacist.
Do Not Use In The Following Cases
- Acute or chronic kidney failure.
- A doctor-prescribed low-salt diet and severe acid-base balance disorders.
- Urinary-tract infections with urea-splitting bacteria.
Warnings & Precautions
- Before first use, blood electrolytes and kidney function must be checked. Use cautiously with severe liver impairment.
- High potassium reduces the effect of cardiac glycosides. Potassium-sparing diuretics, ACE inhibitors and NSAID pain relievers reduce potassium excretion.
- Separate from aluminium-containing preparations by at least two hours.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: use only under medical supervision.
- Treatment is not recommended for children under 12.
Common Side Effects
- Common: usually mild stomach or abdominal pain. Rare: mild diarrhoea or nausea.
Storage
Store below 30°C and drink the solution immediately after preparation. Keep out of reach of children.
