Mosegor (MOSEGOR) is a sugar-coated-tablet product containing pizotifen 0.5 mg per tablet, in a 30-tablet pack. Pizotifen inhibits the effects of substances such as serotonin and histamine and is used to stimulate appetite and increase weight in underweight people.
Indications
- Loss of appetite in underweight people, as an adjunct to treating the underlying cause such as infection, convalescence or chronic diarrhoea.
How to Use
- Adults: usually start with one tablet (0.5 mg) daily, then increase gradually according to the condition and doctor's guidance.
- For children: follow the patient leaflet and consult a pharmacist.
Do Not Use In The Following Cases
- Allergy to pizotifen or any tablet ingredient.
- Children weighing less than 20 kg.
Warnings & Precautions
- May cause drowsiness and slow reactions; use caution when driving or operating machinery.
- Increases the effects of sleeping medicines, sedatives, antihistamines and alcohol.
- Use cautiously in narrow-angle glaucoma or urinary retention such as with an enlarged prostate. Dose review may be needed in renal failure.
- First investigate and treat the cause of appetite loss; weight gain depends on adequate food intake.
- Pregnancy: only if the doctor considers benefit greater than risk. Not recommended during breastfeeding.
Common Side Effects
- Drowsiness is most common, with dizziness, dry mouth, nausea and constipation less common.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees Celsius. Keep out of reach of children.
