Zertazine syrup contains cetirizine hydrochloride 5 mg in 5 ml (1 mg/ml), in a 100 ml pack. Cetirizine is an antihistamine that relieves allergy symptoms such as sneezing, a runny nose and itchy eyes.
Indications
- Hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis).
- Year-round allergies, such as dust or pet allergies.
- Hives: swollen, red and itchy skin.
How to Use
- Follow the patient leaflet or the pharmacist's instructions.
- Do not give to children under two years. For older children, follow the enclosed leaflet and consult a pharmacist.
Do Not Use In The Following Cases
- Allergy to cetirizine, hydroxyzine, piperazine derivatives or any ingredient.
- Severe kidney disease requiring dialysis.
Warnings & Precautions
- Consult a doctor if you have kidney impairment, difficulty urinating due to spinal cord, prostate or bladder problems, epilepsy or a risk of seizures.
- Avoid alcohol during use. Ask a doctor about stopping it before allergy tests.
- Pregnancy: avoid use except when necessary with medical advice. Breastfeeding: use only after consulting a doctor.
- Consult a doctor if symptoms do not improve or worsen after 3 days.
Common Side Effects
- Common effects: tiredness, dry mouth, nausea, diarrhoea, dizziness, headache, drowsiness and sore throat.
- Stop use and consult a doctor immediately for a severe allergic reaction, such as difficulty breathing or swelling of the face or throat, seizures or signs of hepatitis.
Storage
Store below 30 degrees Celsius away from light. Keep out of reach of children.
