Naphcon-A eye drops contain pheniramine maleate 3 mg/ml (0.3%) and naphazoline hydrochloride 0.25 mg/ml (0.025%) in one 15 ml bottle. They combine an anti-allergy agent with an eye decongestant.
Indications
- Treatment of symptoms of eye irritation or swelling caused by allergic eye conditions in adults.
How to Use
- Adults: one or two drops into the affected eye every 3 to 4 hours, no more than 4 times daily, until symptoms resolve.
- Stop treatment and consult a doctor if symptoms do not resolve or the condition worsens within the first 72 hours.
- Remove contact lenses before instilling and wait 15 minutes before reinserting. Do not touch any surface with the dropper tip.
- For children: follow the patient leaflet and consult a pharmacist.
Do Not Use In The Following Cases
- Allergy to either active ingredient or any other ingredient.
- Closed-angle glaucoma or a risk of developing it.
- Children aged 12 years or younger.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Warnings & Precautions
- Consult a doctor before use if taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors, for older people, or if you have severe cardiovascular disease, insulin-dependent diabetes, an overactive thyroid or an enlarged prostate.
- Do not use for an extended period or exceed the recommended dose, as eye redness or swelling may return.
- May cause temporary pupil dilation and blurred vision. Do not drive until vision is clear.
- If accidentally swallowed, seek medical help immediately.
Common Side Effects
- Common: eye discomfort. Pupil dilation, eye irritation or blurred vision may also occur.
- Stop using if irritation persists or increases, and consult a doctor.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees Celsius. Keep out of reach of children.
