Aspirin Protect enteric-coated tablets contain acetylsalicylic acid 100mg per tablet, in a pack of 60. They inhibit platelet aggregation to prevent clots and are not used for pain relief.
Indications
- Use only under doctor guidance and do not start daily use without medical consultation.
- Prevention of clots after coronary artery surgery and of strokes after transient ischaemic attacks.
- Preventing a heart attack or its recurrence in people whose risk has been assessed by a doctor, and treating unstable angina.
How to Use
- Dose: determined by a doctor and must not be changed independently; follow the enclosed leaflet or pharmacist's directions.
- Swallow half an hour before a meal without crushing, breaking or chewing.
- Not recommended for people under 18.
Do Not Use In The Following Cases
- Stomach or duodenal ulcer, or increased tendency to bleed.
- Allergy to aspirin or anti-inflammatory medicines.
- Severe heart, kidney or liver disease.
- Taking methotrexate above 15 mg weekly.
- The last three months of pregnancy.
Warnings & Precautions
- May cause a digestive ulcer or bleeding without preceding symptoms.
- Consult a doctor if you have asthma or allergy, or take blood thinners or blood pressure medicines.
- Ibuprofen may reduce its effect, and corticosteroids and alcohol increase bleeding. Tell your dentist before a tooth extraction.
- Pregnancy: use during the first six months only on a doctor's instructions; prohibited during the final three months.
Common Side Effects
- Common effects: stomach disturbances; sometimes nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea.
- Stop use and consult a doctor immediately for black stool, bloody vomit or signs of allergy.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees Celsius. Keep out of reach of children.
