Canesten-1 Vaginal Cream contains clotrimazole 10%, in one 5 g pack. One intravaginal application provides a complete treatment course for vaginal yeast infection, candidiasis.
Indications
- Treatment of vaginal yeast infection, candidiasis; one application is a complete treatment course.
How to Use
- Unless your doctor directs otherwise, insert the cream as deeply as possible into the vagina, preferably at bedtime.
- A slight discharge may occur after use and does not mean treatment has failed.
- For children: follow the patient leaflet and consult a pharmacist.
Do Not Use In The Following Cases
- Allergy to clotrimazole or any cream ingredient.
- During menstruation, as effectiveness may be reduced.
Warnings & Precautions
- It may reduce the effectiveness of latex condoms and diaphragms; use an alternative method for at least five days after application.
- Avoid tampons, vaginal douches and spermicides during treatment. Avoid intercourse during treatment because infection may pass to your partner.
- Tell your doctor if you take tacrolimus or sirolimus.
- Symptoms should resolve within three days. Tell your doctor if there is no improvement after seven days.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: it may be used after informing your doctor.
Common Side Effects
- Itching, redness, burning, irritation, vaginal discharge or bleeding, abdominal or vulval pain, and nausea may occur.
- Stop use and seek medical advice immediately for an allergic reaction, including rash, difficulty swallowing or breathing, or swelling of the lips or face; or if redness, burning, pain, itching or swelling increases.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees Celsius. Keep out of reach of children.
