Canesten vaginal tablets each contain 100 mg clotrimazole, in a pack of six. Clotrimazole is an antifungal acting at the infection site inside the vagina.
Indications
- Treatment of vaginal fungal infection (vaginal thrush) in those previously diagnosed with this condition by a doctor.
How to Use
- For adult women: insert one tablet deep into the vagina at bedtime for six consecutive nights, or two tablets at bedtime for three consecutive nights.
- Symptoms usually resolve within three days. Consult a doctor if there is no improvement within seven days.
- Do not use for children unless directed by a doctor. Women over 60 should consult a doctor before use.
Do Not Use In The Following Cases
- Allergy to clotrimazole or any ingredient.
- During menstruation, as effectiveness may be reduced.
Warnings & Precautions
- Consult a doctor before use if symptoms occur for the first time or if more than two infections have occurred in the past two months.
- Consult a doctor for abnormal vaginal bleeding, lower abdominal pain, painful urination, fever or foul-smelling discharge.
- May reduce effectiveness of rubber condoms and diaphragms. Use an alternative method for at least five days after treatment.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: use only under medical supervision. An applicator is not recommended during pregnancy.
Common Side Effects
- Mild burning or irritation after insertion.
- Stop use and consult a doctor immediately for rash, facial swelling, difficulty breathing or increasing burning, itching or swelling.
Storage
Store below 30 degrees Celsius. Keep out of reach of children.
