Decozal 0.05% nasal drops contain xylometazoline hydrochloride 0.05% in one bottle, the strength intended for children. They help open the nasal passages by returning swollen blood vessels to their normal size and reducing secretions.
Indications
- Nasal congestion and blockage, including colds.
- Allergic and perennial rhinitis, including hay fever.
- Sinusitis.
How to Use
- Follow the patient leaflet or the pharmacist's instructions.
- Use under adult supervision. Do not use for more than 5 consecutive days, and use each bottle for one person only.
- Children: follow the enclosed leaflet and consult a pharmacist, including about the appropriate age for use.
Do Not Use In The Following Cases
- Allergy to xylometazoline or other decongestants.
- Recent brain or nasal surgery, or chronic nasal dryness.
- Heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, an overactive thyroid or closed-angle glaucoma.
- Taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors within the last 14 days, beta blockers or other decongestants.
Warnings & Precautions
- Stop use if hallucinations, restlessness or sleep disturbances develop.
- Prolonged or excessive use may cause nasal blockage to return or worsen. Keep away from the eyes.
- Do not combine with other cough and cold medicines.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: consult a doctor before use.
Common Side Effects
- Common effects: headache, dryness or irritation of the nasal lining, nausea and local burning.
- Stop use and seek medical help immediately for difficulty breathing or swallowing, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees Celsius. Keep out of reach of children.
