Adol rectal suppositories contain paracetamol 250 mg each, in a pack of 10. Used for mild to moderate pain and fever, and may be particularly useful when oral paracetamol cannot be given.
Indications
- Mild to moderate pain.
- Fever.
- When oral paracetamol cannot be given, such as during nausea or vomiting or after operations.
How to Use
- The dose depends on the child's age and weight; follow the enclosed leaflet and consult a pharmacist.
- Use the whole suppository without breaking it, and gently insert into the rectum, pointed end first.
- Do not exceed the recommended dose.
Do Not Use In The Following Cases
- Allergy to paracetamol or any ingredient of the suppository.
Warnings & Precautions
- Do not combine with any other paracetamol-containing product.
- Use caution with impaired liver or kidney function.
- For overdose, seek medical help straightaway even if the child seems well, due to the risk of delayed liver damage.
- May increase warfarin's effect with regular daily use, is affected by some epilepsy medicines, and requires caution with flucloxacillin.
- Do not use for more than 3 days unless directed by a doctor.
Common Side Effects
- Common: redness of the rectal mucous membrane.
- Rare: allergic reactions such as skin rash and hives, and liver damage.
Storage
Store below 30°C away from light. Keep out of reach of children.
