Adol (ADOL) is a rectal-suppository product containing paracetamol 500 mg per suppository, in a ten-suppository pack. Used to treat pain and fever, particularly when paracetamol cannot be taken orally.
Indications
- Treatment of mild to moderate pain and fever.
- Particularly useful for those unable to take paracetamol orally, such as after surgery or with nausea and vomiting.
How to Use
- For rectal use only; administer the whole suppository without breaking it.
- Dose and method: according to the package leaflet or pharmacist guidance.
- For children: follow the patient leaflet and consult a pharmacist.
Do Not Use In The Following Cases
- Allergy to paracetamol or any ingredient.
Warnings & Precautions
- Do not use with any other product containing paracetamol.
- Use cautiously with impaired kidney or liver function.
- Do not use for more than three days except with doctor advice or exceed the recommended dose.
- Seek medical advice immediately after overdose even if feeling better, because of the risk of delayed, serious liver damage.
- Use cautiously with flucloxacillin. Regular daily use over a long period may increase warfarin's anticoagulant effect. Liver-damage risk also increases with enzyme-inducing medicines such as some epilepsy medicines.
- Pregnancy: follow doctor guidance. Breastfeeding: available information does not prevent use.
Common Side Effects
- Common: redness of rectal mucosa.
- Rare: allergic reactions including rash and hives, and liver damage.
Storage
Store below 30 degrees Celsius away from light. Keep out of reach of children.
