Nexium (NEXIUM) gastro-resistant tablets contain esomeprazole 20 mg, in a pack of 14 tablets. It belongs to the proton pump inhibitors, which reduce stomach acid.
Indications
- Short-term treatment of reflux symptoms in adults, such as heartburn and acid regurgitation into the mouth.
How to Use
- Follow the patient leaflet or the pharmacist's instructions.
- Do not use in anyone under 18 years of age.
Do Not Use In The Following Cases
- Allergy to esomeprazole or other proton pump inhibitors such as omeprazole.
- Taking medicines containing nelfinavir or rilpivirine for HIV treatment.
- A previous severe rash, skin peeling or blisters with this medicine or similar medicines.
Warnings & Precautions
- Consult a doctor if symptoms do not improve or worsen after 14 days, or if you have been treating heartburn continuously for 4 weeks or longer.
- See a doctor immediately for unexplained weight loss, difficulty swallowing, vomiting blood or black stools.
- Tell the doctor before use if you have severe liver or kidney problems or a previous stomach ulcer.
- Tell the pharmacist about your medicines, especially clopidogrel and warfarin.
- Pregnancy: preferably avoid it as a precaution. Do not use during breastfeeding.
Common Side Effects
- Headache, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, constipation, gas, nausea or vomiting.
- Stop taking it and contact a doctor immediately if the lips or throat swell, the skin becomes red with blisters or peeling, or the skin turns yellow.
Storage
Do not store above 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
