Rennie tablets are sucked or chewed. Each tablet contains calcium carbonate 680 mg and magnesium carbonate 80 mg, in a pack of 48 tablets. They combine two antacids to neutralise excess stomach acid.
Indications
- Relief of heartburn, indigestion and acid reflux.
How to Use
- For adults and children over 12 years: suck or chew the tablet. Follow the package leaflet or pharmacist's instructions for the dose and maximum daily amount.
- Not recommended for children under 12 years.
Do Not Use In The Following Cases
- Severe kidney disease.
- High calcium levels in the urine or kidney stones.
- High blood calcium or low blood phosphate.
- Allergy to any ingredient.
Warnings & Precautions
- Do not use for more than 14 days without consulting a doctor, and do not exceed the specified dose.
- For mild or moderate kidney problems, consult a doctor because regular blood tests are required.
- May affect other medicines, including certain antibiotics, levothyroxine, digoxin and iron supplements. Take it 1–2 hours after any other medicine.
- Avoid taking with large quantities of milk or dairy products.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: may be used according to the instructions. Pregnant women must observe the maximum daily amount stated in the package leaflet.
Common Side Effects
- Side effects are unlikely at the recommended dose. Prolonged high-dose use may increase blood calcium and magnesium.
- Stop use and seek medical advice immediately for an allergic reaction such as rash, itching, difficulty breathing or swelling.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees Celsius. Keep out of reach of children.
