OTRIVIN nasal drops contain xylometazoline hydrochloride 0.1% in a 10 ml bottle. They help open and clear the nasal passages.
Indications
- Nasal congestion and blockage, including congestion associated with colds.
- Perennial and allergic rhinitis, including hay fever.
- Sinusitis.
How to Use
- For adults: 2–3 drops in each nostril up to 3 times daily. Do not exceed 3 applications daily.
- Do not use for more than 7 consecutive days.
- For children: follow the patient leaflet and consult a pharmacist.
Do Not Use In The Following Cases
- Allergy to xylometazoline or other decongestants.
- Recent brain or nerve surgery, or narrow-angle glaucoma.
- Chronic rhinitis with severely dry nasal passages, an enlarged prostate or phaeochromocytoma.
- Taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors or having stopped them within the last 14 days.
- Children under 12 years.
Warnings & Precautions
- Tell a doctor before use if you have an overactive thyroid, diabetes, heart disease or high blood pressure, or take tricyclic or tetracyclic antidepressants.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: consult a doctor before use.
- Prolonged or excessive use may cause congestion to return or worsen. Consult a doctor if symptoms have not improved after 7 days.
Common Side Effects
- Common side effects include headache, dry nasal mucosa, nasal discomfort, nausea and local irritation after applying the drops.
- Stop use and seek medical help immediately for signs of allergy such as difficulty breathing or swallowing, or swelling of the face and throat.
Storage
Store below 30 degrees Celsius. Keep out of reach of children.
