Otrivin metered-dose nasal spray contains xylometazoline hydrochloride 0.1%, in one bottle. It opens nasal passages by returning swollen blood vessels to their normal size, relieving a blocked nose.
Indications
- Nasal congestion and blockage, including colds.
- Allergic and chronic rhinitis, including hay fever.
- Sinusitis.
How to Use
- For adults: one spray in each nostril up to a maximum of 3 times daily.
- Press the pump 4 times before first use. The bottle is for one person.
- Do not use for more than 7 consecutive days.
- Do not use in children under 12.
Do Not Use In The Following Cases
- Allergy to xylometazoline or any ingredient.
- Recent brain or nerve surgery.
- Narrow-angle glaucoma, enlarged prostate or pheochromocytoma.
- Chronic rhinitis with severe dryness.
- Taking MAOIs in the last 14 days, and children under 12.
Warnings & Precautions
- Consult a doctor before use for an overactive thyroid, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, or use of tricyclic or tetracyclic antidepressants.
- Prolonged or excessive use may cause congestion to return or worsen.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: consult a doctor before use.
Common Side Effects
Common effects: headache, nasal dryness or discomfort, nausea and local irritation. Stop use and seek medical help straightaway for an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing or swallowing, or swelling of the face or throat.
Storage
Store below 30°C and keep out of children's reach.
