Xylomet adult nasal drops contain xylometazoline hydrochloride 0.1% in a 15ml bottle. They help open the nasal passages by reducing excess secretions and swelling of blood vessels.
Indications
- Nasal congestion (a blocked nose, including that associated with colds).
- Allergic and recurrent rhinitis, including hay fever.
- Sinusitis.
How to Use
- Adults: 2 to 3 drops in each nostril up to 3 times daily. Do not exceed 3 applications daily in each nostril.
- For children: follow the patient leaflet and consult a pharmacist.
Do Not Use In The Following Cases
- Allergy to xylometazoline, the drops' ingredients or other decongestants.
- Recent neurosurgery, narrow-angle glaucoma, chronic rhinitis with severe dryness, an enlarged prostate or phaeochromocytoma.
- Taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), or having stopped them within the last 14 days.
- Children under 12 years.
Warnings & Precautions
- Tell your doctor before use if you have an overactive thyroid, diabetes, heart disease or high blood pressure, or take tricyclic or tetracyclic antidepressants.
- Do not use for more than 7 consecutive days, as prolonged use may worsen congestion.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: consult your doctor before use.
Common Side Effects
- Common effects: headache, dryness of the nasal membranes, nasal discomfort, nausea and local irritation after application.
- Stop use and seek medical help immediately if signs of allergy appear, such as difficulty breathing or swallowing or swelling of the face and throat.
Storage
Store below 30 degrees Celsius. Keep out of reach of children.
