Gaviscon Extra Strength Peppermint Chewable Tablets contain sodium alginate 500 mg, sodium bicarbonate 267 mg and calcium carbonate 160 mg per tablet, in a pack of 12. It belongs to medicines for gastro-oesophageal reflux and reduces stomach acidity.
Indications
- Relief of occasional heartburn in adults.
How to Use
- Adults and older people: follow the leaflet or pharmacist instructions. Chew the tablet thoroughly before swallowing.
- Do not exceed the dose without medical advice. Use for short periods only.
- Adolescents aged 12 to 18: only under medical supervision. No data are available for those under 12.
Do Not Use In The Following Cases
- Allergy to sodium alginate, sodium bicarbonate or any ingredient.
Warnings & Precautions
- Consult your doctor before use for kidney impairment, calcium kidney stones or high blood calcium, now or previously.
- Consult your doctor if symptoms continue, worsen after 7 days or recur.
- Leave at least two hours between this and other medicines, particularly certain antibiotics, iron salts, thyroid hormones, chloroquine and bisphosphonates.
- Contains sodium; consult your doctor if on a low-salt diet.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: use after consulting your doctor.
Common Side Effects
- The leaflet lists no common side effects. Very rarely, gas, nausea or an allergic reaction such as hives may occur.
- Consult your doctor or pharmacist for any unusual symptoms.
