Folicum Oral Tablets contain folic acid 1 mg each, in a pack of 20. Folic acid is a B vitamin needed for normal blood formation.
Indications
- Treatment of folic acid deficiency confirmed by a blood test, with vitamin B12 assessment.
- Prevention of folic acid deficiency in people taking medicines such as methotrexate.
- Prevention of fetal neural tube defects, such as spina bifida, in women planning pregnancy.
How to Use
- Dose: follow the leaflet or pharmacist instructions. The dose varies with the condition.
- Do not use in children under 6 years.
- For children: follow the patient leaflet and consult a pharmacist.
Do Not Use In The Following Cases
- Allergy to folic acid or any ingredient.
Warnings & Precautions
- Consult your doctor or pharmacist before use for cancer, diagnosed vitamin B12 deficiency or anaemia of unknown cause.
- Tell the pharmacist if taking epilepsy medicines, including phenytoin, phenobarbital or primidone; chloramphenicol, sulfonamides, trimethoprim or sulfasalazine.
- May be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Common Side Effects
- Rarely: itching or rash, nausea, loss of appetite, fullness and gas.
- Stop use and seek medical help immediately for a severe allergic reaction, including swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, or difficulty breathing or swallowing.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees Celsius. Keep out of reach of children.
