HISTOFEN syrup contains 1 mg of ketotifen per 5 ml (0.2 mg/ml), in one 100 ml bottle. Ketotifen is an anti-allergy medicine used for allergic conditions such as allergic rhinitis.
Indications
- Allergic conditions such as allergic rhinitis.
How to Use
- Follow the patient leaflet or the pharmacist's instructions.
- The leaflet states that a doctor determines the dose and timing. Take with food. Stop only as directed by a doctor, with gradual withdrawal over 2–4 weeks.
- For children: follow the patient leaflet and consult a pharmacist.
Do Not Use In The Following Cases
- Allergy to ketotifen or any medicine ingredient.
- Patients with epilepsy.
- People taking oral diabetes medicines.
- Breastfeeding, because ketotifen is excreted in breast milk.
Warnings & Precautions
- May cause drowsiness or slower reactions in the first days. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know its effect on you.
- May increase the effects of sedatives, antihistamines, medicines for depression and anxiety, and anticoagulants. Avoid alcohol during use.
- Do not stop asthma medicines except as directed by a doctor.
- Use during pregnancy is not recommended.
Common Side Effects
- Common: agitation, irritability, insomnia and nervousness. Less common: dizziness and dry mouth.
- Stop use and consult a doctor immediately if a skin rash with blisters on the lips, eyes or mouth and fever occurs, or if the skin and eyes turn yellow or seizures occur.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees Celsius. Keep out of reach of children.
