Pico oral drops contain sodium picosulfate 7.5 mg in each 1 ml, in one pack. This laxative is used to treat constipation.
Indications
- Constipation and conditions that require easier passage of stools.
How to Use
- For adults: follow the package leaflet or the pharmacist's instructions.
- Preferably take in the evening. Its effect usually begins after 10 to 12 hours.
- Do not give to children under 4 years. For children aged 4 years or older, use only as directed by a doctor.
Do Not Use In The Following Cases
- Allergy to sodium picosulfate or any ingredient.
- Narrowing or obstruction of the bowel, acute abdominal conditions such as appendicitis, or severe abdominal pain with nausea and vomiting.
- Acute gastrointestinal inflammation or severe dehydration.
Warnings & Precautions
- Do not use daily or for a long period without medical assessment of the cause of constipation.
- Consult a doctor if symptoms persist for a long time, or if blood in the stool or fever occurs.
- Excessive use may cause loss of potassium and salts. The risk increases with diuretics or cortisone.
- Antibiotics may reduce its effect.
- Pregnancy: avoid whenever possible. Consult a doctor or pharmacist during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Common Side Effects
- Diarrhoea is very common. Gas, abdominal pain or cramps are common. Dizziness, nausea or vomiting may also occur.
- If side effects occur, stop use and consult a doctor.
Storage
Store below 30 degrees Celsius. Keep out of reach of children.
