HISTOP syrup contains chlorpheniramine maleate 2 mg per 5 ml in a 100 ml bottle. An antihistamine that relieves allergy symptoms and itchy rash.
Indications
- Hay fever and other allergies, such as allergies to pets and dust mites.
- Hives, skin allergies, heat rash, food or medicine allergies, insect bites and chickenpox itching.
How to Use
- Follow the patient leaflet or the pharmacist's instructions.
- Do not give to infants under 12 months.
- For children: follow the patient leaflet and consult a pharmacist.
Do Not Use In The Following Cases
- Allergy to antihistamines or any syrup ingredient.
- Taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) for depression during the past two weeks.
- Taking other antihistamine-containing medicines, including cold and cough medicines.
Warnings & Precautions
- Consult a doctor before use for severe high blood pressure, heart, liver or kidney disease, epilepsy, glaucoma, an enlarged prostate, asthma or chronic lung disease.
- Avoid alcohol. Do not drive or operate machinery if drowsy, dizzy or experiencing blurred vision.
- Tell a doctor if you take phenytoin or medicines for anxiety or sleep.
- Do not use continuously for more than 14 days without consulting a doctor.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: consult a doctor before use.
Common Side Effects
- Drowsiness, impaired concentration, dizziness, headache, blurred vision, nausea, dry mouth and tiredness.
- Stop use and consult a doctor for an allergic reaction such as a raised itchy rash or swelling of the face or mouth with difficulty breathing.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees Celsius. Keep out of reach of children.
