Zyrtec (ZYRTEC) film-coated tablets contain cetirizine dihydrochloride 10 mg, in a pack of 10. An antihistamine that blocks histamine released by the body during allergy.
Indications
- Hay fever, allergic rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis.
- Chronic urticaria, often accompanied by itching.
How to Use
- Adults: one tablet once daily, swallowed without chewing with a glass of liquid, with or without food.
- For adults and children from 6 years.
- For children: follow the patient leaflet and consult a pharmacist.
Do Not Use In The Following Cases
- Allergy to cetirizine, a similar substance or any tablet ingredient.
- Breastfeeding, and pregnancy unless prescribed by a doctor.
- End-stage kidney failure.
Warnings & Precautions
- May cause drowsiness. Take care when driving or using machinery, and preferably avoid alcohol.
- Use cautiously with epilepsy, sedatives or pain relievers. Do not take with theophylline without consulting a doctor.
- Do not take at the same time as glipizide. Taking glipizide in the morning and Zyrtec in the evening is advised.
- May increase urinary retention risk in susceptible people, such as those with an enlarged prostate or spinal cord injuries.
- Ask a doctor about stopping several days before skin allergy tests.
- People with impaired kidney function may need a lower dose determined by a doctor.
Common Side Effects
- Mild tiredness, mild headache, drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth and nausea.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees Celsius. Keep out of reach of children.
